Elena Garrigolas Spain, b. 1998

Elena Garrigolas (b. 1998, Catalonia) is a visual artist based in Girona, Spain, whose work explores memory, identity, and symbolism through drawing and painting. Her practice reflects on how early experiences—shaped by family, tradition, and belief—leave subtle marks on the emotional and imaginative self. Drawing is at the heart of her work: both as a daily practice and a space for transformation.

She holds a degree in Fine Art from the University of Barcelona. Working primarily in large-format drawings, Garrigolas creates visual narratives that weave the surreal with the familiar. Her figures often appear in transitional states, rendered with a sensitivity that invites reflection rather than resolution. Her language is informed by feminist surrealism, spiritual symbolism, and classical draftsmanship.

In 2023, Garrigolas presented Confessions of the Flesh at Saatchi Yates in London, her first international solo exhibition. Her work has also been shown in group exhibitions at Casa de la Cultura and La Mercè in Girona, and at Hudson House in New York. Across her growing practice, Garrigolas continues to explore drawing as a way of remembering, reimagining, and gently reclaiming the self.
