Mehdi Dakhli (France, 1988) is a designer working across Venice, Paris and London. His collectible furniture reclaims and reinterprets cultural heritage through material and form — most notably his own Tunisian roots. The Sidi Bou Chair, built from aluminium and Nero Marquina marble, takes its structure from Wassily Kandinsky's Loses im Rot (1925), a nod to the artist's formative visit to Tunisia and its influence on his turn toward abstraction. Its later iteration, the Muravey Collection, reworks the same silhouette in pear wood. His 2025 Scarab Cabinet, in padouk, ebonized oak and bronze, draws on the ancient Egyptian scarab as a symbol of regeneration and protection, conceived as a guardian for the objects it holds.
Across these pieces, Dakhli treats furniture as a vessel for cultural memory, fusing craft, symbolism and material history into functional sculpture. Dakhli's extensive experience includes collaborations with notable figures such as Pritzker Prize winner architect, Francis Kéré.
