AWL is delighted to present At the Image's Edge, the first solo exhibition of Moroccan artist Youssef Taki. Working across photography, installation, and multimedia, Taki’s practice engages with memory, migration, and the politics of representation, foregrounding first-person narratives that resist hegemonic frameworks through which migratory experiences are often mediated.
“In this exhibition, Youssef Taki traces a path toward the restitution of the dignity of migrant families’ memories. Without claiming to offer an exhaustive account of an ungraspable migratory reality, and with the intention of filling the void of first-person migratory stories, the Hispano-Moroccan artist collects, gathers, and reinterprets fragments of memory through family albums, donated vernacular archives, and files rescued from oblivion.”
